Graduate Fashion Week is unique in that it celebrates the very best in new and up and coming design talent in the UK and abroad (Incidentally GFW is the biggest fashion education event in the world!) We are thrilled to be involved as title sponsor for the 4th year. Working with GFW gives us the opportunity to put something back into the fashion industry and it gives all the graduates a fantastic opportunity to showcase their work to the best of the whole fashion industry.

The UK has the largest creative sector in Europe and here at River Island we employ new graduates every year into a variety of creative roles across all areas of our business. From design to visual merchandising and marketing to buying, GFW gives us the chance to find the best talent around.

When you join River Island you are joining a very creative team.

Graduate Fashion Week (GFW)

Graduate Fashion Week was launched in 1991 as a forum to showcase the very best BA Graduate fashion design talent in the UK. As always, the event attracts fashion scouts from the UK and overseas, all looking for that unique quirky Britishness that has helped to make some of the worlds most famous design houses the success they are today.

The culmination of Graduate Fashion Week is the prestigious Gala Show where the most outstanding collection is awarded the River Island Gold Award. The lucky winner will receive an impressive £20,000 prize. This is the only Award of its kind within British fashion education.

Over the years Graduate Fashion Week has launched the careers of talented British designers such as Stella McCartney, Julien Macdonald, Antonio Beradi, Hussein Chalayan, Giles Deacon and PPQ.

The talent on show including designers, illustrators, merchandisers, buyers, PR officers, journalists, and marketeers has been snapped up by many of the world’s most prestigious brands including Donna Karan, Gucci, Levi Strauss, Calvin Klein and Reebok. Previous winners of Graduate Fashion Week include Christopher Bailey (Winner of the first GFW Collection of the Year Award), Rachel Gurney knitwear designer for Donna Karan and Vikki Wittering who became accessory designer at Calvin Klein.

Graduate Fashion Week is totally unique. No other country in the world invests in fashion graduates on such a scale!

This year’s event was hosted at the iconic Earls Court 2 in London and our biggest GFW yet. To find out more about GFW go to .
